Recently

I recently purchased a potty for Margot.  I don't think she's quite ready for portty training, but I wanted to have it in the house so she'd become familiar with it.  She's quite fascinated by it, but doesn't get what it's for just yet.  Instead, she puts her hand in the little bowl like she's washing her hands, or she tries to put her foot in it and then sit on the seat (maybe she's going to be a contortionist), and then of course she likes to put any of her toys in it, show them to me, and laugh.  Oh, can't forget about brushing her teeth on it.  These were from one night last week after her bath.  No pee pee yet, but lots of play time!

She's also recently had a lot of eyes on her as she eats.  When I tell her it's time to eat, she'll run and grab one or a handful and say "watch, watch".  If I don't stop her, she'll go back and forth until we end up with ten characters on the table.  I remember Chrissie's son, Colin doing this when he was younger, and always wondered where it came from.  Now I know, it just happens.

Mother Nature

As most of you know, our house backs up to a cow pasture (the main reason I bought the place).  In the 10 years I've been living here I've always hoped to see a cow give birth in the field.  Well today it happened; well the birth did.  Unfortunately, I still didn't see the actual birth, but saw the calf shortly after.  So soon that the mother was still cleaning up the mess, if you know what I mean.  Gross?  Yes, but it's Mother Nature.  She left a little and all I could think of when I was putting Margot to sleep was how the neighborhood cats were going to be sitting around it tonight under the moonlight thinking they'd hit the jackpot.  Did I go too far?

Thursday

Margot got a cold the week before Christmas and ever since she's had a hard time staying asleep at night.  Well, let me clarify, she has a hard time staying asleep in her OWN bed.  She's been going to sleep between 7-7:30 and then will wake up around 10 and if we're lucky, I can get her back to sleep quickly and she'll sleep for a couple more hours before waking up and then we'll bring her in our room, because frankly, I'm usually half asleep and don't want to deal with going back and forth if she wakes up again.  If we aren't lucky, and we can't get her back to sleep right away, I'll just take her into our bed at that point and then I usually have to stay in there with her for her to go back to sleep.  Once she's in our bed, she's out for the rest of the night, which is good.  So what's my reason for sharing this?  Today I took her to the park in hopes that the fresh air and exercise would wear her out so tonight she'll stay asleep all night.  Let's hope it works!  Here are a couple of pictures from our day.  She loves picking up rocks and occasionally things she shouldn't, like goose poop!  Shh, don't tell her Dad.

Mar-got

I've been showing Margot pictures of herself on my flickr account.  About a week ago, she started going over to the computer and saying "Margot, Margot, Margot" and pointing to herself, until I opened up the laptop and found her pictures.  This now happens multiple times daily.  She's a persistent little girl, and will say her name over and over so you have to be quick. :)

You say you want a resolution

Here they are
  • Run a 10k
  • Become more organized
  • Be more involved with the Mom's groups I'm in so Margot gets more socialization
  • Eat healthier (I really need to lower my cholesterol some)
and because making resolutions are so much fun, I decided to make one for the household too.
  • NO MORE PROCRASTINATING!  If we know we've got to do something, then do it then, not wait until the last minute so we both get stressed out.
What are your resolutions?
