And the Countdown Begins

Tomorrow I will be 30 weeks.  It's hard to believe that we only have 10 weeks to go!  I still get the overwhelming feeling of having to get so much stuff done prior to her arrival, but I know it'll all work out.  We finally started on the soon-to-be nursery.  Robbie primed it and think we've decided to paint it yellow, so once that is done we can start putting stuff in there.  Exciting! Everything on the baby front is going well.  My glucose test came back normal, so that's good, and as to date I've gained approximately 20 pounds.  I'm still amazed when people tell me they either didn't know I was pregnant (um, come on, can't you see the protruding belly) or they can't believe I'm as far along as I am.  I guess we all feel bigger than we are.  For those of you that don't know (which is probably nobody), but I entered a Miss Mom-To-Be contest through the local radio station.  The only thing required to enter was submitting a picture.  Easy enough, right?  They then picked 25 semi-finalists, which I was one of.  That's when I hit everyone up for their votes.  Little did I know they would chose 6 people to be the finalists (I presume based on number of votes) and then they are going to have an on-air pageant.  Um, yeah!  I think they'll choose the finalists in the next couple of days, so we'll see what happens. Also, I've finally made a big decision as far as diapering the baby.  This has been weighing heavily on my mind, so I'm glad to have come to a resolution.  We're going to try cloth diapers.  As goofy as it sounds, I feel like it's my responsibility to the environment.  I don't want to just go straight to disposables because they are easy and convenient.  When I read about the numbers of disposables that end up in the landfills as well as all the pee and poop that is there, seeping into the ground, it really bothers me.  Am I saying that there is no way that I will EVER use a disposable on my child?  Absolutely not, I'm just saying that if I don't try out cloth diapers, I'm going to be really disappointed in myself. Finally, I'm looking forward to a busy week full of fun with the golf tournament, my Dad's BIG birthday and our first baby shower.

It's Spring!

We spent the day outside enjoying the beautiful weather.  Ok, that's a bit of a stretch, but we did spend the day outside enjoying the beautiful weather, while we did yard work. :)  It's hard for me not to be able to do certain chores that I actually enjoy, such as mowing the yard, but Robbie's doing a great job at it.  I know a lot of people would say to take advantage of it and have him do as much as possible, but I'm just not that type of gal.  I'm looking forward to planting some new flowers this year, because I'd really like to have fresh cut flowers throughout the summer.  If you have any suggestions of easy to grow, hardy flowers, leave me a comment, I'm up for trying something new.  The more colorful, the better.

25 Weeks

Tomorrow I'll be 26 weeks.  It's pretty crazy to think that we only have approximately 14 weeks left to go!  The munchkin is still growing, and boy have I felt it this last week.  I haven't had any pains, but I can definitely they belly and baby are gaining some weight.  Apparently she's still got plenty of room in there, because she has been kicking up a storm and moving all over.  It'd really be neat to have a camera in there to see what she was doing.  Of course, I'd never get anything done if that were the case. I have a doctors appointment on Thursday to get the standard glucose screening done.  It consists of drinking some super sugary substance and then waiting an hour and getting blood taken so they can evaluate how efficiently my body processes sugar. Robbie and I went and picked up some paint samples last weekend, and it looks like we'll end up with either a green or yellow nursery.  Now we have to figure out what Blik wall decals we want to use for decoration as well as picking out some sort of bedding.  Our first baby shower is in May, so we'll be able to start setting up everything after that.  It'll be exciting to see it all come together.   So that's all for now.  Thanks to the Biggest Loser, I now want a bowl of cereal, so I need to go do something to get my mind off of it!
